Blue Offshore reaches agreement to use Swan Hunter facilities

Blue Offshore, a specialist subsea construction contractor, has today announced that it has reached agreement to use the former Swan Hunter shipyard facilities at Wallsend, Newcastle-upon-Tyne (UK), for assembly and construction of its cable installation system.

Blue Offshore will operate the facility by arrangement with North Tyneside Council. The agreement has started with preparation works over the past weeks and the main assembly and construction activities to take place in December 2011 and January 2012. Caley Ocean Systems will perform assembly and construction activities, while Blue Offshore’s specialist partner, Titan Heavy Transport, will assist with logistical and load-out operations for the 600 tonnes cable installation system onto either a barge or vessel to be used for cable installation projects in the Baltic Sea and German sector of the North Sea in 2012 and 2013.

Linda Arkley, Elected Mayor of North Tyneside said: “We are delighted that Blue Offshore has chosen to locate to the former Swan Hunter shipyards site initially for the period required for the assembly and construction of its cable installation system, but potentially longer as opportunities arise within the offshore wind sector.”

This installation system will consist of an adaptable modular turntable system with carrying capacity up to 9,000 tonnes, loading arm assembly, tensioners, trackways and associated equipment.

Blue Offshore reaches financial close with ABN AMRO

Blue Offshore, a specialist subsea construction contractor, have today announced that they have reached financial close on 28 October 2011 with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. The purpose of the financing is the manufacturing of their most recent cable installation system with delivery by 1st Quarter of 2012.

Blue Offshore assist their customers with innovative standalone and module-based solutions to suit their particular project needs. This installation system will consist of an adaptable modular turntable system with carrying capacity up to 9,000 tonnes, loading arm assembly, tensioners, trackways and associated equipment. This announcement follows the ongoing development and the recognition of current and future market requirements.

Blue Offshore commences with second cable installation system

Blue Offshore, a specialist subsea construction contractor, have today commenced with the building of their second cable installation system for delivery by Quarter 1 2012. Blue Offshore assist their customers with innovative standalone and module-based solutions to suit their particular project needs. This second installation system will be based on their first system and will consist of an adaptable modular turntable system with carrying capacity up to 9,000 tonnes, loading arm assembly, tensioners, trackways and associated equipment. Delivery is scheduled for Q2 2012. This announcement follows the ongoing construction of the first cable installation system and the recognition of current and future market requirements.

Blue Offshore continues cooperation with NSW into 2013

Blue Offshore has been awarded a second lease agreement for their subsea cable installation system by Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH (NSW) for 2013. The system includes the uniquely adaptable modular turntable system, loading arm assembly, tensioners, trackways, associated equipment and construction crew, to assist with the installation of submarine transmission cables. The new contract has been signed on August 12.

NSW cable installation

NSW leases equipment from Blue Offshore

Blue Offshore has been awarded a lease agreement for a subsea cable installation system by Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke GmbH (NSW). The system includes the uniquely adaptable modular turntable system, loading arm assembly, tensioners, trackways and associated equipment, to assist with the installation of submarine transmission cables. The order value has not been disclosed, with mobilization beginning in 2012.

Blue Offshore orders world’s largest turntable from Caley

Blue Offshore and Caley Ocean Systems have signed a letter of intent for the construction of world’s largest carousel. The installation system will consist of an uniquely adaptable modular turntable system, loading arm assembly, tensioners, trackways and associated equipment. The 9,000 tonnes of carrying capacity in its full 32m configuration will make the turntable by far the largest of its type in the world. Delivery is scheduled for Q4 2011. This announcement follows the completion of a 9 month design phase during which both companies work closely with one another to develop a design that was fully optimised for current and future market requirements.

Caley have been successfully building large capacity turntables for the past 15 years, but this exciting project is set to become a new benchmark for the industry.”
